"Paula" - Pt 3 of 3 - Australian Woman Flees Abusive Husband for Children's Sake.

This is part three of a three-part story with Paula. Our interview with Paula is strong and descriptive. You will immediately notice Paula's voice has been distorted so she could speak freely and cannot be recognized. We apologize that some parts may be difficult to understand. At the time of our interview, Paula was speaking from Melbourne, Australia. We spoke for 2 1/2 hours which has been edited into three parts of about 1/2 hour apiece. This will take you from the time she met John even though she knew a relationship with him would be problematic with his alcoholism. They married and had two children together. His behavior became worse. She did all she could to save the marriage, but, eventually, she had to flee with her two children. The story is challenging to listen to, but 1000 times more difficult to be the one who experienced it. We learn from survivors like Paula to trust our instincts, get out of unhealthy relationships early, take nothing for granted, and learn the warning signs of a potentially dangerous relationship. We appreciate this story that Paula brought to us on the WHEN DATING HURTS podcast. Om Podcasten

A "must-listen-to" podcast on dating abuse and intimate partner violence. This series is hosted by Bill Mitchell, author of the memoir, WHEN DATING HURTS (Amazon). This book is about the murder of Bill's daughter by her ex-boyfriend. Bill and his wife, Michele, lost Kristin to dating violence when she was brutally murdered in June 2005. It was 20 days after her college graduation. FACT: 1 in 3 WOMEN suffer serious physical violence at the hands of intimate partners during their lifetimes. Typically, it happens between the ages of 16-24. But can happen at any age. It doesn't need to happen.  Bill interviews experts with keen insights into dating and domestic violence: • "DV" agency counselors • Law enforcement professionals • Parents of children who were either lost to, or somehow survived, dating violence • Actual survivors of intimate partner violence After you listen to the WHEN DATING HURTS Podcast, share it with those who need to hear it... Remember the 1 in 3 women statistic.
