(BONUS) Ostomy Observations S3E3: High output stoma (ostomy) syndrome: Results of a global consensus conference

This special podcast is part of the Ostomy Observations Series, a 6-part series included in the “Educating Today for Exceptional Outcomes Tomorrow” Program. In this episode, Tammy Lichtman, BSN, RN, CWON, shares insights from her participation in an international expert forum focused on high output stoma syndrome (HOSS). A diverse group of nurses from 11 countries collaborated to define and develop standards of care for this condition. Tammy discusses the unique challenges faced in different healthcare systems, from insurance coverage to access to supplies, and how these factors influence the management of high output stomas. Listeners will learn about the evolution of high output stomas into a recognized syndrome, the clinical recommendations emerging from the consensus statements, and the need for ongoing education and research in this area. Both the Ostomy Observations podcast series and the Educating Today for Exceptional Outcomes Tomorrow Program are commercially supported through an educational grant from Hollister Incorporated.
