EP66 Motherhood, Maternity Leave and Balancing Career Goals with Tobi Asare

Tobi Asare is the founder of My Bump Pay, an online platform and community that helps women to overcome the motherhood penalty, navigate maternity leave and achieve their career goals whilst growing their family. In this episode, I ask Tobi some of the big questions about what it’s really like to have a baby and manage a career, particularly if you’re self-employed or run your own business. Tobi tells us how to prepare financially and practically, with some great tips on staying visible whilst on maternity leave. We also discuss how women’s economic progress has been reversed as a result of the pandemic, with data from the organisation Pregnant Then Screwed finding that 72% of mothers have had to work fewer hours because of childcare issues. So if you have a baby on the way or are thinking about starting a family, then this episode is for you! This conversation was recorded on 9th February 2021.
