WHU 95: My path to living alcohol free. Questions every woman needs to ask herself.

My path to sobriety wasn’t because alcohol left a path of devastation and destruction in my life. Even the term sobriety leads people to imagine a relationship with alcohol that was uncontrolled and struggling with addiction. This isn't my story. My story sounds more like an average 30 something woman who finally examined the role alcohol was having in her health and she stopped. But this story is still important. It’s about wanting to fit in, rebound anxiety, optimal performance and making hard decisions. It’s about recognizing the signs that something in your life isn’t working for you, and how to make change and challenge the culture-status-quo. Alcohol has health risks for women, even if you don’t have a problem with alcohol. Even if you just have a little. Even if you’re not addicted. So we have to have this conversation more often and be sure that women understand the risks and how to ask themselves hard questions. Enjoy this episode full of vulnerability.

Welcome to Real Integrative Medicine, where we break down the barriers between evidence and integrative practice. Hosted by Dr. Jordan Robertson, ND, our mission is to empower both patients and clinicians to make confident, evidence-informed decisions with integrative medicine. What's real? What does evidence mean? How should research change our day-to-day health choices? The show will cover the intersection between health, habit change and mindset to help you make confident and science-backed decisions in your health care. The podcast is the sister to our Youtube channel, Real Integrative Medicine, which is geared towards practitioners who want to make evidence-informed recommendations for their patients, without having to dig into the research themselves.
