Ep 13 - Mental Health in Times of Crisis w/ Dr. Jessica DiVento

Mental Health in Times of Crisis: 1 in 5 adults in America suffer from a mental illness in a given year according to the National Alliance on Mental Illness. Sadly, nearly 60% of adults with a mental illness did not receive any treatment. During this month of mental health awareness, we had the opportunity to speak with Dr. Jessica DiVento, a clinical psychologist who is an employee mental health program manager and business advisor with YouTube/Google.

Listen as Jessica expertly talks us through the phases of disaster recovery, what the community is collectively going through as well as what you may be experiencing individually. We cover some ways you can help to identify in yourself or others when professional help may be needed, ways you can engage with professionals through new mediums (text therapy, who knew!?) and even ways to break up with a therapist.

If you or a loved one is in need of help, please reach out to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (nami.org or call the NAMI Helpline at 800-950-NAMI. If you're in a crisis, text "NAMI" to 741741 or call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK (8255).
