After U.S. regulations barred Nvidia from selling its most advanced semiconductors in China, engineers at Nvidia quickly pivoted to making lower-powered chips to comply with the rules. But the Chinese cloud companies that are some of Nvidia’s biggest customers globally don’t want the downgraded chips.
