Finding Liberation From Prison Through Art with Tara and Omari Booker

This week we get to have two guests! One you are familiar with and one you haven’t met yet, Tara and Omari Booker. Omari is Tara's partner and an artist who currently has a solo exhibit showing at Elephant Gallery In Nashville titled, Fifteen. (Showing through May 20, 2023) Fifteen marks a very important part of Omari's story, the end of his parole following a 15 year prison sentence. In this episode, we talk candidly about Omari and Tara's emotional, mental, and spiritual experience during this time. Within the last 15 years, Omari found both relationships and art to be two of the most valuable resources and healing agents in his story. Our conversation walks us through how he accessed hope in unimaginable circumstances and how he specifically used art to find freedom and liberation from prisons constructed both personally and socially.  Learn about Omari and his work HERE Follow Omari on Instagram: @omaribooker Visit Fifteen at Elephant Gallery  Read about Fifteen in Nashville Scene  Follow Kat on Instagram: @Kat.Defatta Follow the podcast Instagram: @YouNeedTherapyPodcast Have a question, concern, guest idea, something else?
