We Already Gave Witness to His Lordship [Hikam 255]
"He made you witness before He asked you to give witness.Thus, the outer faculties speak of His Divinity while the heart and the innermost consciousness have realised His Unity" The following aphorism alludes to the great heavenly covenant which took place in the Realm of the Souls, the entire mankind being made to bear witness the Oneness of Allah Most High. Our expression of Ashadu allā 'ilāha illallah (I bear witness that there is no God but Allah) is physical evidence of this. It is for the seeker to actualize this testimomy both verbally and physically so as to remain truthful to what he has testified to.
